The causes of drug addiction are many and it can be of some help for us to try and understand why it occurs. This may help you to take action for yourself or someone else. Understanding is the key and with acceptance anyone can recover from an addiction. Let's look at some of these circumstances now starting with:-
Experimentation I know a lot of alcoholics and drug users and I myself have also experimented with both but I never got addicted. I always wondered why I found it so easy to stop using drugs and why others got into it deeper and deeper. Now they are imprisoned by it. Speaking from experience – experimentation is probably one of the major causes of drug use. You want to experience that “high” that everyone is talking about but depending on the drug that can be a serious mistake. Everyone that experiment with illegal drugs will not get hooked –at least not immediately – but with prolonged use it will definitely make it harder to kick the habit later down the road. Lots of people I know that still use it say that think that they can kick the habit whenever they want but yet they never seem to try.
Denial Denial is one of the other deadly causes of drug addiction because you don’t ever think that being an addict will happen to you. You begin to realize that the first thing you crave in the morning is the drug. Before the day is done you have had several doses. You wake up everyday saying to yourself that you’re okay but you really aren’t. You don’t understand what is happening to you and you always get that urge that sees to rob you of all self-control. Stop denying it you seriously need help and traveling this dark, lonely road will get you nowhere fast.
Peer Pressure Peer pressure is another major factor worth including in the causes of drug addiction. Birds of a feather flock together so in a nutshell if you want to apart of what is going on you will have to prove it by doing whatever it takes. As much as I hate the term peer pressure, it is real and it does affect people of all ages because we as human beings always want to be accepted by others. This need to be accepted by your peers will make you do things that you never thought were possible.
Personal Issues My uncle became an alcoholic because my grandmother became very ill My family watched as my grandmother slowly died but not everyone who saw that took it like he did. Some of us were glad that she was no longer in pain and now her soul can rest in piece. As I’m writing this, my uncle is in rehab for the second time. I think you can begin to see the turmoil that personal issues can have on a person. Emotional problems are the hardest to deal with and people often turn to any form of escape that they can get. All they get is temporary relief and to keep it up they will need to repeat the habit over and over again. This repetition causes drug addiction.
Exposure To Drugs Early cases of drug use in kids, teenagers and young adults can be linked to the being exposed to it from a young age in the household or by someone close to the family or by a friend. With repeated exposure, the dangers of using drugs become normal and you begin to think it is alright to use drugs.
The Allure of Living Dangerously Who doesn’t like to feel excited? It is a part of human nature to want to try dangerous things and live on the edge. Making drugs illegal only added to its attractiveness. Many high society people take drugs because of the excitement they get from doing it.
Being Poor No money, no job and a family to feed. This person may have started to use drugs because they had too many problems to handle. Being poor leaves you even more susceptible to selling drugs for quick cash. Most dealers become users. Looking over your shoulder is tough and you need something to help you relax. After all, when you aren’t getting enough sleep you need some way of relaxing. It then becomes necessary for you to use it to relax and this leads to addiction. Living poor sucks and adding more problems to your life only pushes you further into drug addiction.
How Drugs Affect The Mind Ok we’ve covered a few causes of drug addiction but we need to take a look at how drugs affect the mind. Why? Because if we know how it affects us we may not want to try them at all. Drugs harm one’s ability to think or to be fully aware of what’s happening around them and because the high has worn off that doesn't mean that everything is back to normal. Addictive drugs activate your nervous system which causes the body to crave the drug.Your focus shifts towards satisfying that craving. The drug is attacking you at a cellular level deep within the brain, making it harder to shake the feeling. The only option is to satisfy the urge. For some drugs these urges - if not satisfied immediately can turn to intense pain and without proper help one can even die. Sounds serious don’t it? Not being able to shake the urge is one of the other causes of drug addiction. You may have heard of a person who tried heroin or cocaine once and got hooked, that is because of the cravings. The fact is - everyone has a different tolerance level and it is possible for some people to get hooked very easily. My friends it is not easy to say no to drugs at all times but it is a must. Don’t try experimenting with it because you want to be a part of the crowd. It really isn’t worth it. You don’t need any enhancers to make life more fun; you just need to surround yourself with the things that you love. I hope this article helped you understand some of the causes of drug addiction a lot better.
