Do you have a personal development plan? This is one of the most important steps to take before you run of to the starting line. You don’t ever see world class athletes start their races without going through the necessary preparation first. If you are like most people, you may just want to become rounded in fields other than their own daily work. I’ve heard some people say that they want to develop the success traits of the millionaires and I’ve heard others say that they just want to gain more knowledge on a passion, hobby or simply expanding on previous educational knowledge. It really doesn’t matter the reason for developing yourself, the point is it would be much easier if you write a personal development plan to follow to know exactly when you have achieved your goals. Your personal development plan becomes like a road map to keep you on track and here you will find a guide on how to write your own plan easily and quickly. Get some blank sheets of paper or simply type out your plan on your computer following these five easy steps: Step 1: Write out your statement of intentions. This would be what you aim to accomplish by developing yourself. Beginning with this at the head of your plan you will never lose sight of what you want to accomplish and you will know exactly when you have achieved your goals. Step 2: Put pen to paper and document the areas you have accomplished so far. Usually this maybe your second or third attempt at developing yourself so write out what you have done before on your path to developing yourself. This will ensure that you don’t go over that stuff and it keeps your focus on what you have not accomplished as yet. Step 3: What are the areas that you want to cover next? Try as much as you can not to duplicate the areas that you wrote down in step 2 above. On the other hand feel free to revise things from step 2 if you want to refresh your memory on subjects that were done a long time ago. Step 4: Setting dates helps you to achieve your goals quicker. Jot down the dates that you intend to meet your targets in each area that will be covered in the step 3; this helps you to stay focused on your goals. Step 5: As you meet your goals in step 3, highlight them as being completed so you would know if you are applying enough effort to reaching your targets by the intended target dates. See that wasn’t hard at all was it? You now have the information needed to write a pretty good personal development plan. Let’s review the steps shall we: Write a very descriptive statement of intentions. Remember this is the foundation of the whole process so put some feeling into it.Jot down the things already accomplished up to this point. These are your previous attempts without the plan- so you won’t waist time going over previous knowledge.Write what areas you want to gain knowledge on or expand your existing knowledge.Write the dates for which you will accomplish each area to be covered. When you meet your targets, make a note of it next to the area that you have covered.Make several copies so you can stick them up in places where you spend lots of time. This will serve as reminders and also motivation. Now you know how to write a personal development plan of your own. I wish you the best of luck on your journey on gaining wisdom. Just put in the necessary effort and you will feel fulfilled when you reach your targets.
