Self Employment Ideas - #2

"Starting A T-Shirt Company"

One of my good buddies came up with an excellent part time income selling t-shirts and then went on to replace his full time job with it.

He started a small t-shirt company and within a year he made over $150,000 but how he made that money was very interesting as he did it with a lot of smart work and very little hard work.

First of all he realized that his t-shit company which was being funded out of his pocket wasn’t going to get as far as the other guys who were already established in the market already.

He targeted smaller niche markets like college student and their regular parties. Pretty soon he became the official supplier of t-shirts for the promoters and models for these parties but what he didn’t know was that this meant he started a trend.

Soon after people started asking questions and a definite buzz started stirring among the college students and everyone wanted a t-shirt with these cool logos and catchy phrases.

It didn’t stop there because as you can imagine if he was doing so well around the campuses then those who catered to that specific target market will want a piece of the action.

This led him to become a wholesaler, providing retail outlets with a hot in demand product. The moral of this story is that you can definitely do this as well and for very little start up cost.

The trick is to find a niche and start a buzz and then ride on the back of it until you can’t do that anymore. Let’s look at other small but lucrative target markets that benefited from this small company.

He did a little research and found that he could make tons of cash by providing marketing material for companies through custom made shirts. He sourced the material, have his freelance graphic designer come up with some quick sketches and then have them printed all for very little cost to these companies.

Whenever you can help companies save money; you will definitely make tons of cash. This has clearly been a profitable business venture for him.

We even sat down together and came up with another great market to target and that is construction. Yup – these guys all need work apparel and these t-shirts with their company logos and other company information has been a splendid idea.

He had four construction companies signed up in 2 month all wanting between 100-250 custom designed garments made for their staff. If this isn’t one of the best self employment ideas I don’t know what is.

This is something that anyone can do in their spare time or turn it into a full time business. You can even look at selling protest apparel as well. He makes an additional 10,000 a year catering to those who need to make a point.

I’m sure you can think of many other niche markets that you can make easy money with.

The sky is really the limit! You can do anything or take your self employment ideas and business ventures anywhere you can dream of.

All you need to do right now is to identify a niche, come up with some catchy or relevant designs and source the material. Then take it to a nearby garment printer and you are in business.
